Agriculture with BADMC
The Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC) was established by a legislative act (Cap. 254) in 1993. As a statutory corporation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management (MAFFW), we inform, facilitate and develop Barbadian crop and livestock production, food innovation, processing and marketing opportunities for local agripreneurs and food enterprises. Through our work we create economic opportunity and help assure food and nutrition security for all Barbadians.
Our Mission is Facilitated by Three Developmental Divisions :
State Trading Enterprise
Our State Trading Enterprise Division responsibly manages the importation and distribution of import-controlled poultry, produce and agribusiness inputs in support of local agricultural sub-sectors.
The BADMC is a statutory government organization that takes care of the agricultural development and functioning in and around Barbados. We operate and participate in projects that aim for satisfying the needs of agricultural businesses. We stimulate marketing, producing, and processing of agricultural produce.
We encourage youth to participate in our plans for development. We support cooperation between the public sector and the private sector. We assist farmers in securing their business processes such as purchase, management, shipping, and sale.
We facilitate Government policies related to rural development and land reforms. We enable the farmers to work in accordance with the government policies and avail maximum benefits from their business. We help farmers in the appropriate storage of their produce and provide them with expert advice. We seek approval from the Minister for our operations.
